I chaired @teriin #WSDS2024 panel on ‘Women-led Green Development’, with eminent speakers Charlotte Morton OBE, Purvi Mehta, Dipankar Saharia and Shailly Kedia. With less than 14% women represented in senior management, companies run the risk of'suboptimality'—decisions taken aren’t inclusive. ‘Genderwashing’, today, is for real. While capital/funds to support women and women-led ventures are key, young women need to be able to come out of school more confident and determined. There has to be a better support system, including by men and fathers. The role of government is critical, and India has taken strong strides. Over the last 10 years, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has come out with targeted programs, including the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), Mahila Kisan Sashaktikaran Pariyojana, and PM Kusum scheme, that advance women-led green development.
